Making changes to a commodity contract on the AgriChain platform is a straightforward process. This guide outlines the steps to amend a contract seamlessly while highlighting any limitations you should be aware of.
When Should You Amend a Contract?
To update contract details such as price, quantity, delivery window, or notes
To correct errors in non-critical fields
To resend an updated contract to the counterparty
Note: Some fields, such as buyer/seller names, cannot be amended and may require contract voiding and re-creation.
Step-by-Step: How to Amend a Contract
Log in to AgriChain using your credentials.
Navigate to the Contract module from the left-hand navigation bar.
Use the search or filter options to locate the contract you wish to amend.
Click on the contract to open its detailed view.
Ensure you're on the Contract tab, which shows contract details and actions.
Click the three-dot menu (⋮) located in the top-right corner of the page.
Select "Amend" from the dropdown options.
This will open the contract creation screen, pre-filled with the existing contract details.
Make necessary changes in the editable fields. The fields available for editing may vary depending on the contract’s current status.
Click “Continue and Review” at the bottom of the page.
On the Contract Preview screen, review the amended details carefully.
Click “Submit” to proceed.
Sending the Amended Contract
After submission:
A pop-up titled "Email PDF copies to" will appear.
Select the counterparty email(s) to notify them of the updated contract.
(Optional) Enter additional email addresses.
If ready, click “Send Now” to email the contract immediately.
Alternatively, click “I'll Do It Later” if you want to send it manually at another time.
Once submitted, the amended contract will be shared with the selected counterparties for acknowledgment or acceptance.
Important Notes
Editing Buyer or Seller Names: These fields cannot be amended. If these need to change, you must void the existing contract and create a new one to comply with legal and recordkeeping standards.
Only contracts in Draft, Awaiting Confirmation, or Open status can typically be amended.
Movements associated with the contract may limit which fields are editable.
