What is Gross Mode vs Net Mode in Position Reporting?

Modified on Wed, 24 Jun at 8:08 PM

Introduction

The Gross/Net toggle appears in the By Type, By Season, and By Grade views. It changes how purchase and sale quantities are displayed.

What is Net mode?

In Net mode, the position shown for a contract is the outstanding (undelivered) quantity i.e. the contracted tonnage minus any quantity already delivered. This is the default and recommended view for understanding your remaining market exposure.

What is Gross mode?

In Gross mode, the position shown is the full contracted tonnage, regardless of how much has already been delivered. Gross mode is useful when you want to understand the total size of your book, not just the open balance.
